Site Development: engAGINGages.com

February 7, 2020 by admin

engagingages.com site development

engAGING

AOS recently had the pleasure of completing a site development project for the business engAGING. The site is at https://engagingages.com/

engAGING provides turn-key solutions digital and print marketing campaigns for businesses targeting senior (50+) and caregiver audiences. They provide subscription services, individual products, and custom products.

AOS completed the site development by utilizing WordPress and WooCommerce to power the ecommerce portion of the site. Given that there was a subscription element to some products, the Subscriptions add-on plugin was purchased for the site. You can see the products available on the engagingages.com site.

Additionally, we needed to set up MailChimp with an auto-reply that included a file for new clients to receive a free sample of engAGING’s content available for purchase. There were a few key components to this element of the setup:

  1. Email was purchased through GSuite, so it was being handled by external servers.
  2. First, we had to Spam Proof the email address. Many email providers (including/especially Google/GSuite, Gmail) will spam filter by checking whether your email originates from the same domain noted in the From Email. For example, if your email claims to be sent from your Gmail address but is actually sent from your website’s server (rather than Gmail’s server), your email may be sent to spam or not be delivered. This is the case for forms being sent via WordPress sites. We made sure the address was Spam Proof.
  3. Next, we had to set up custom DKIM authentication for the domain and include Mailchimp in the SPF record. Inbox Service Providers (ISPs), like Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft, use DKIM and SPF authentication as a way to scan incoming emails for spam or spoofed addresses. We discuss this process in this blog article Fix: Emails from MailChimp Marked as Potential Spam.

While the WooCommerce and MailChimp elements to this site development seem to be straightforward, these were critical pieces to the performance and success of the site. It’s essential to consider all elements of even seemingly straightforward pieces of a project to ensure that you’ve properly set up a site.
